PANDEMRIC is an amalgamation of the words pandemic and EMRIC. PANDEMRIC is supporting EMRIC in work related to the COVID crisis. PANDEMRIC therefore focuses on promoting Euroregional cooperation in the event of a pandemic or large-scale outbreak of an infectious disease.<\/p>\n\n

At the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, it quickly became clear that crisis policies were often implemented at the national level. Existing Euroregional networks were more or less overruled. Dis-coordination between the countries created numerous bottlenecks in the border regions, which proved detrimental to the citizens of the Euregio Meuse-Rhine (EMR). PANDEMRIC therefore focuses on promoting Euroregional cooperation in the event of a pandemic or large-scale outbreak of an infectious disease.<\/p>\n\n

PANDEMRIC is financially supported by INTERREG Euregio Meuse-Rhine <\/a>and co-funded by the Province of Limburg.<\/a><\/p>\n\n

Partners<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

EMRIC<\/a> (lead partner), ITEM<\/a>, the MUMC+<\/a>, the German-speaking Community<\/a>, the Province of Liege<\/a> and the EGTS-EMR<\/a> will collaborate on these improvements.<\/p>\n\n

Role of ITEM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

ITEM conducted three studies in the PANDEMRIC project: <\/p>\n\n

  1. Conducting evaluative research <\/strong>on the response to the COVID-19 outbreak by national\/federal and regional governments and the impact of actions on local and regional governments and citizens<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Conducting a study focusing on the legal implications of cross-border ambulance and intensive care transport in general and with respect to personnel and recognition of diplomas<\/strong> in particular<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Preparing a report with an analysis of legislation, policy and practice, as well as recommendations for structuring cross-border cooperation in crisis and emergency public procurement <\/strong>situations<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
