“TRANSIT” strengthens cross-border mobility in the Meuse-Rhine region

TRANSIT stands for “Transnational Regional Administration Network for Sustainable Integrated Transport”. The Interreg VI Meuse-Rhine project TRANSIT aims to promote cross-border cooperation on sustainable mobility in the Meuse-Rhine Euregion (Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands). The project has a three-year duration – from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2027 – and a total budget of €3.14 million.

Responsible for TRANSIT project: Aachener Verkehrsverbund

AVV is the lead partner in the project, working with a total of 11 partner institutions from the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion. These include transport companies and public transport authorities, as well as government agencies, universities and research institutes.

The project partners aim for a more efficient and targeted cooperation in the realisation of public transport services in the border triangle. To this end, they want to strengthen cross-border public transport as a whole and make it more attractive and comfortable for passengers to use. To this end, they also seek to strengthen cross-border cooperation at the administrative level – for example, by expanding governance structures and entrenching competences.
