About us

ITEM is an interdisciplinary expertise centre that addresses cross-border mobility and cooperation issues through research, advice, knowledge exchange and training. Working across legal, economic, cultural and administrative disciplines, and in cooperation with the faculties of Maastricht University, ITEM translates scientific knowledge into practical solutions for border regions. Through projects, contract research and comprehensive annual reports, ITEM examines the effects of policies and legislation on cross-border regions and seeks to generate societal impact, guided by its core values of knowledge, connection and cooperation.
