Hans Wevers is an assistant professor at the Open University, where he defended his dissertation, “Social Entrepreneurship and the EU Cohesion Policy: Exploring Complementarity in Border Regions,” on 5 September 2025. As of 1 May 2026, Hans has been working part-time as a researcher at ITEM. He has a background as a consultant in European Cooperation at Reeleaf BV and as a project advisor at the secretariat of the Interreg North Sea Programme in Viborg, Denmark. His research interests lie in the area of the influence of the presence of the border on the development of border regions, with a research focus on the flows of knowledge and (social) innovations between universities and entrepreneurs.
