Dr. Sander Kramer

Sander Kramer was a PhD student at ITEM from 1 June 2016 to 8 December 2023. On 8 December 2023, he defended his PhD thesis entitled ‘Effective cross-border pension information in the face of multi-level legal systems: A cross-disciplinary research into the cross-border taxation of pensions.’ From June 2023, he is an associate professor at the Institute for Transnational and Euregional Cross-border Cooperation and Mobility / ITEM and at the Department of Tax Law at Maastricht University. His research interests are in the field of (cross-border) pensions; taxation of (cross-border) pensions; (European) social security law; international and European tax law, and behavioural/socio-psychological approaches to law and policy. As a researcher in the cross-border domain, Sander has been involved in numerous research projects, cross-border impact assessment, case study research, as well as more fundamental research. In February 2021, Sander started working as a guest lecturer at the University of Curaçao Dr Moises da Costa Gomez (UoC), where he teaches the course Introduction to International and European Tax Law.
