Math Noortmann joined ITEM in April 2022 from the Institute for Peace and Security of Coventry University (UK), where he still holds a Emeritus Professorship. He held teaching, research, and management positions at distinguished universities in the Netherlands, Singapore, Germany, and the UK. In his academic research on security, governance, and non-state actors, he combines insights from law (PhD) and political science (M.Sc.). His publications address such themes as international and transnational law, private security, and non-governmental organizations. He currently co-leads an NWO funded project on cross-border, inter-organizational law enforcement in the Euregion Meuse-Rhine.
